Ed & Kate Coleman's whimsical and colorful vases have been a big hit with our customers. We find they are often chosen as wedding gifts, which, being in a Big-Ten University community with 30,000 students, is a common enough occurrence!
The Colemans' studio is next to their home on "Big Flats" Mountain in North Carolina. Living at an elevation of 2200 feet, the Blue Ridge Mountains are a continual source of inspiration. Ed and Kate started their study of ceramics at the Indianapolis Art Center when they were 15 years old. Trained at Ball State University, they opened their first studio in 2000 in southwest Florida. In 2008, they moved to the mountains of North Carolina.
"We like working within the parameters of a series, keeping each piece unique and one-of-a-kind. This process allows our work to continuously grow and move in dynamic ways. We hope that the excitement we feel when making a piece is evident and transferred to the owners of our work."
